Gregory McCoy, 62, of Oley Township, was pronounced dead at 9:34 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, according to the Berks County Coroner's Office.

Police were called to a wooded area near the 200 block of Geiger Road at around 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 and found McCoy hanging upside down from the tree, Amity Police Chief Jeffrey Smith said.

Police believe McCoy had been cutting a limb below the tree stand when he fell, according to Chief Smith. One of his legs got caught between a tree limb and the trunk of the tree during the fall.

The Berks County Coroner's Office listed the cause of death as "cardiac and pulmonary insufficiency due to prolonged inverted suspension" with the manner of death ruled as "accidental."
